Activity 18 | Arithmetic Series Word Problem

1. There are 95 passengers in the first carriage,  110 passengers in the second carraige and 125 passengers in the third carraige, and so on in an arithmetic sequence to come up with 170 passengers in the 6th carriage. How many passengers are there in all in the 6 carraiges?

Answer : 795 passengers

2. There are 130 students in grade one, 210 students in grade two, 290 students in grade three and so on in an arithmetic sequence to come up with 530 students in grade six. How many students are there from grade one to six?

Answer : 1, 980 students
